A visitor to the Picasso Museum in Málaga - Photo EFE The Picasso Museum in Málaga has seen its permanent collection extended by 43 new paintings, sculptures and ceramics, to take the total to 276.

The Museum has now been open in the Palacio de Buenavista in Málaga city centre for seven years over which time its treasures have been growing. The latest additions come on a 15 year loan from the Almine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso Art Foundation, FABA, created eight years ago by the Málaga painter’s grandson and his wife.

The Museum Director, José Lebrero, explained that the new layout of the museum had moved away from a ‘formal or chronological viewpoint’ and now gave the observer more space to form his or her own routes and connections.

Since its opening on October 23 2007, the Picasso Museum in Málaga has welcomed 2,370,000 visitors. The Junta de Andalucía has invested more than 108 million € in the project over that time.
